Back in Zholty Vody!

Another update! We were not able to discuss any details with the kids yesterday, however, we did have a wonderful time with them, and said goodbye with a chorus of " Can't wait to see you in Zholty Vody," from everybody. We left Berdyans'k this morning at 5:00 and arrived in ZV today about noon, got checked into the hotel (really nice rooms!) and then Roma set us up with a taxi to Dnipropetrovsk (2 hours away), where we were able to get to the notary just in time! Amazingly enough, the young woman (Yulia) who was hired to translate for us at the notary's office saw the childrens' passports and said, "I know them!" She said she had had another appointment, but cancelled it because she felt led to come to ours. There are over a million people in Dneprop., and we just "happened" to have her as our translator. She knew nothing of our adoption before this and in fact was hired by the notary, not one of our facilitators. It turns out that she worked with the Mahy's in the past, is a believer, and had visited Katya and the boys at the orphanage in ZV. She just kept saying "Praise God!" and so did we. In fact, Lisa just couldn't stop crying because she was just so overwhelmed with the Lord's provision for us yet again! What an awesome God we serve!

We continue to be amazed and awed by the way God works, and we are so blessed! Roma spoke with Rimma (the orphanage director) today. She seemed very favorable towards our adoption and has agreed to allow us to see the children again this Sunday from 10:00 till noon. So, we are going to rest up tomorrow, and if all goes well, we hope to know something from the kids by Monday. If all goes well, then the next phase of the process will start.

Here it is Monday the 15 already, and looking back on the past weeks' events I can only think what an incredible week it's been! First the amazing trip from Kiev to Zholty Vody, then on to Berdyans'k, then back to ZV for one day (two nights) and finally back to Berdyans'k (300 miles, 6 hrs driving one way) where we have been enjoying sun, sand, surf, and most of all, interaction with the children we hope to adopt; Katya, Sasha, and Shurick. It's truly something that only God could have brought to pass! All the details that fell perfectly into place in order for us to have this wonderful opportunity to be with the children in this amazing setting could have never been scheduled or orchestrated by us! It's been amazing to Lisa and I how quickly our children have bonded in spite of the language barriers: truly, love knows no bounds! Introduction

Hello! Before I post about our activities, here is an introduction to our family. We live outside of Drain, Oregon in a 1930's farm house on five acres. Other than raising six kids, we also have four Nubian goats, two dozen chickens, a cat (with lots of kittens) and an old dog named Ginger (our back door mat). Our First Month in Poland. . .Part One

It looks a little Norwegian.  Enjoying a sermon on the beach? Some of the young people at Ecclesia.   Here is a summary of our first month in Poland. . . better late than never!          We arrived in Poland refreshed after our wonderful stay with our Norwegian friends.  After landing, we collected our mountain of luggage and hauled it outside to await our greeting party.  Jurek arrived first in his van and managed to pack all our luggage in the back in less than five minutes!  Three other vehicles also came carrying the Stebnecki family, Goscia (Jurek's wife) and two of their friends.  After orgainizing seating arrangements, our caravan set off to enjoy dinner at an "American" restaurant.  The food was worth the hour and a half wait.  With full bellies, our caravan then continued to our new home in Bojano, Poland.  Our cabin is like a fairy tale home-- very cozy.       ...
