From Bojano to Ukraine

A fter our busy Sunday, Monday morning dawned a little too early but we finished packing, loaded the van and tidied our cabin.   B oth families came down to say goodbye and after a sweet prayer ti me we started o ur trip to Ukraine. We stopped in Tchew at the home of our friends (Piotr and Marisha) and enjoyed fellowship with their family and Yanush and his family f or an hour.   They had large plates of delicious pastries prepared for us, along with lots of coffee and tea. They also gathered around us and prayed for us, and we felt that we were saying goodbye t o family as we pulled away from their home. Jewish Ghetto Memorial Poland has a re ally nice toll road and we traveled on this until we safely reached "Varshava" as Warsaw is pronounced.  Ben had contacte d Jerzy Schmiel, a gentleman who was instrumental in arranging the tours that he and the other younger siblings t ook part in years ago in Poland.   It was a ma zing tha...

While You Were Sleeping......

Hi Ya'll! We just got back from meeting with the kids and Rema, the director. The children have said Yes!!! We went to the orphanage today to meet Rema (the orphanage director) and discuss our desire to adopt the children. It was a little intimidating with her behind the desk and all of us in row, being asked question after question; but we knew that the Lord was in control. We answered her questions via our interpreter, Roma, and then she called the children in. They spoke for a time (all in Russian of course) and then we left. As we were walking out the door, Roma asked the children if they wanted to be part of our family, they said yes, then we filed out to the playground at the orphanage where we awaited the city inspector (Ukraine's version of a CPS officer.) When the inspector arrived, she took the children into an office, where they stated to her their desire to be adopted, and were then required to write a handwritten letter stating the same, all wh...

Our First Month in Poland. . .Part One

It looks a little Norwegian.  Enjoying a sermon on the beach? Some of the young people at Ecclesia.   Here is a summary of our first month in Poland. . . better late than never!          We arrived in Poland refreshed after our wonderful stay with our Norwegian friends.  After landing, we collected our mountain of luggage and hauled it outside to await our greeting party.  Jurek arrived first in his van and managed to pack all our luggage in the back in less than five minutes!  Three other vehicles also came carrying the Stebnecki family, Goscia (Jurek's wife) and two of their friends.  After orgainizing seating arrangements, our caravan set off to enjoy dinner at an "American" restaurant.  The food was worth the hour and a half wait.  With full bellies, our caravan then continued to our new home in Bojano, Poland.  Our cabin is like a fairy tale home-- very cozy.       ...
